Star Attacker Davis Joins Century Club as No. 3 PU Men’s Lax Whips Manhattan

Although Princeton brought a 3-0 record into the clash with the Jaspers, senior attacker Davis had been held to a total of two assists in the Tigers’ last two outings.

“I have been struggling getting my shot on net lately,” said Davis, a 5’10, 185-pound native of Levittown, N.Y.

“In the last few games, I was 0 for 6 and 0 for 7 shooting. I was just concentrating on the last step, trying to get the ball on net.”

It has taken a lot of toil and tribulation but Julia Berger was ready to shine in crunch time last Friday as the Princeton University women’s basketball team battled Columbia.

Princeton senior forward Berger, who had just five starts in her first three seasons with the Tigers before emerging as a solid contributor this winter, was determined to do whatever her team needed with the score tied at 61-61 and 1:37 left in the second half.

At times this season, A.J. Dowers went missing in action for the Princeton High boys’ basketball team.

The 6’8 senior center struggled in late season losses to WW/P-S, Lawrence High, and Pennington, losing some confidence and playing time in the process.

But showing a sense of urgency, Dowers came up big last Thursday as fifth-seeded PHS pulled out a 47-35 victory at No. 4 Point Pleasant in the Group III Central Jersey quarterfinals.

The Princeton High boys’ hockey team learned the truth of that principle the hard way this winter.

In the last week of the regular season, PHS held a 2-1 lead over WW/P-S late in the third period only to see the Pirates score a late goal to pull out a tie.

PDS Girls’ Hockey Made Progress but Needs to Develop Consistency

In late January, the Princeton Day School girls’ hockey team didn’t bring its A-game as it lost to Holton Arms.

Lacking energy, PDS never got in synch and got badly outplayed in the third period in falling 3-1.

Getting a second crack at Holton Arms three weeks later in the WIHLMA consolation playoffs, the Panthers were primed to make amends.
