The Princeton Senior Resource Center will host a Science Café on Friday, April 18 at 2 p.m. at the Suzanne Patterson Building. The topic will be “Personalized Healthcare: Using Genomic & Functional Medicine in Evaluating & Treating Cardiac Disease,” with the discussion led by Dr. Kate Thomsen. Science Café is a forum for discussing current topics of science. Each month there is a new topic, often suggested by participants. The talks include an expert in the field of the topic under discussion and a short presentation or suggested reading for participants. Participants are encouraged to suggest topics, guests, or be the guest speaker themselves. Coffee and tea are served. To register, call the Princeton Senior Resource Center at (609) 924-7108.

Bonnie Bassler, a Princeton University molecular biologist, will deliver the third annual James Baldwin Lecture at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in McCormick 101, on the Princeton University campus. In the lecture, Ms. Bassler will share ideas about mentoring and role models and how, in her role as director of graduate studies in the University’s Department of Molecular Biology, she has focused on the challenge of racial disparity in biological science education at Princeton. The talk is sponsored by the University’s Center for African American Studies.
