“OLIVES, BREAD, AND WINE”: This painting by Michael Berardesco is part of “A Shift in Focus,” his dual exhibit with Nanette Kardaszeski, on view October 8 through November 1 at Artists’ Gallery in Lambertville. An opening reception is on October 10 from 3 to 6 p.m.
Artists’ Gallery at 18 Bridge Street in Lambertville will present “A Shift in Focus,” a collaborative exhibition featuring paintings by Michael Berardesco and the photography of Nanette Kardaszeski, one of the newest members of the gallery, October 8 to November 1. An opening reception is on Saturday, October 10, from 3 to 6 p.m.
With a distinguished career spanning over 50 years, award-winning artist, lecturer, and instructor Berardesco draws inspiration for his paintings from quiet spaces and moments suspended in time.
“As modern life grows more hectic, these calm interludes have taken on a greater importance for me. In response,” said Berardesco, “I’ve begun to focus in by moving my viewpoint closer to my subjects, simplifying my compositions and immersing myself in the surfaces and textures of the individual objects I paint, I am able to linger in the moment. In a sense, my work allows me to pause time for a while.”
His latest body of work invites viewers to slow down and appreciate how the ordinary can become timeless.
Kardaszeski’s photographic journey spans more than 30 years, rooted in a deep reverence for the natural world. For her, photography is more than a means of image-making; it is an immersive practice of presence — of listening to the landscape, exploring its rhythms, and discovering fleeting moments that might otherwise slip by.
By capturing the quiet beauty of animals in their native environments, moody atmospheric scenes, and carefully observed abstract details, her work reveals hidden layers of wonder.
Kardaszeski’s versatile body of work celebrates nature’s rich diversity, encouraging a mindful shift in perspective. Driven by an enduring curiosity and passion for exploration, she moves quietly between subjects, continually exploring while constantly discovering new ways of seeing and connecting with the natural world.
In her debut exhibition at the gallery, Kardaszeski encourages viewers to experience what can be revealed when we take the time to look more closely.
Gallery hours are Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, visit lambertvillearts.com.
