On Thursday, September 17, at 12:15 p.m. the 25th season of Westminster Conservatory at Nassau will open with a recital of music for solo piano by Korean composers. The performer, Eunju Kim, is a member of the teaching faculty of Westminster Conservatory.

The recital will take place in the Niles Chapel of Nassau Presbyterian Church, 61 Nassau Street. It is open to the public free of charge.

The program includes The Wave for piano by Bumki Kim; Variations on Arirang by Seungki Hong; Sight Unseen by Haerim Seok; and portions of Variations for piano by Youg-ja Lee.

Kim teaches piano and coaches chamber music for the Honors Music Program at Westminster Conservatory. She has served as committee chair for the NJ Music Teachers Association Advanced Master Class Audition and the New Jersey Composer Commission Competition. She is a music director at All Nations Church in Voorhees.

Kim received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Korea’s Gyeongsang National University, a Master of Music in Sacred Music from Westminster Choir College, and a post-masters Advanced Certificate of Professional Studies in Music from New York University. At Boston University she is a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts in Music Education degree.

She has been a recipient of the Steinway & Sons Top Teacher Award. Her students have won numerous competitions, including the Chopin International Piano Competition, the International Young Gifted Musicians Festival, the Paderewski International Piano Competition, the Princeton Festival, the NJMTA Young Musicians Competition, and the Steinway Piano Competition.

Kim has also directed benefit concerts entitled “The Harmony of Eastern and Western Music” for the Camden Soup Kitchen and the Haiti Jesus Medical Clinic.

The next Westminster Conservatory at Nassau recital will take place on Thursday, October 15, and will feature pianists Theodore Hendricks Verdejo and others.
