To the Editor:
I will never forget the day that my dear husband, then in his final illness, fell from his bed. He could not get up, nor could I get him up. Of course I called 911, and within minutes our wonderful Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad (PFARS) arrived, lifted him carefully and kindly back to bed, then explained how I could make sure that didn’t happen again. I think of that day every time I send my twice-yearly donation to PFARS, and I think of how essential PFARS is. As Mayor Freda says, it’s the third leg of emergency services: EMS, fire, and police.
Some years later, I needed the help of PFARS myself, and thanks to its quick and effective action, a serious health emergency was avoided.
Thanks for headlining this essential service to Princeton [“PFARS Calls for EMS to Be Deemed an Essential Service,” June 3, page 1]. We’re so lucky to have PFARS right here in our community!
