Writing in support of Nakia White Barr For Mercer County Commissioner

To the Editor:

I am writing to share my enthusiastic endorsement of Nakia White Barr for Mercer County Commissioner. I first met Nakia in the early days of our return to elementary school birthdays parties, following remote schooling. Even behind a mask and at a socially acceptable distance, Nakia’s warmth and kindness were evident and I quickly found a new friend for whom I am thankful every day since.

Beyond friendship, Nakia has challenged me to be a more active participant in our community and to think of ways in which we can give to those around us. Whether volunteering to organize the elementary school field day, hosting a gingerbread house building party for the holidays, or encouraging her fellow parents to attend board meetings and fundraisers, Nakia reminds us that we are all members of the village we raise our children in and we can each offer unique gifts to those around us.

Nakia’s credentials speak for themselves. Her educational and professional background should put to rest any questions about experience. Serving her community as an attorney, navigating the administrative world of Ivy League higher education, as well as leading through volunteer positions in nonprofits are a few examples that with show the breadth of experiences Nakia brings to the table. I truly believe she can do anything she sets her mind to.

One of the most compelling arguments for Nakia earning our vote is the fact that despite all of the opportunities presented to her during the course of her professional career, coming back to serve Mercer County was never a question. Giving back to community that helped shape her into the incredible woman she is today, is a full circle moment, one that I am honored to support.

Please join me on June 2 and vote for Nakia White Barr for Mercer County Commissioner!
