Sustainable Princeton Extends Thanks for Community Support of Spring Green Soirée

To the Editor:

On behalf of everyone at Sustainable Princeton, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the incredible community that made our Spring Green Soirée on May 16 at Updike Farmstead such a joyful and meaningful evening.

We were deeply moved by the support shown for this year’s event. The generosity of our sponsors, donors, trustees, volunteers, event committee, local businesses, musicians, and attendees helped make the Spring Green Soirée a sold-out celebration of community, sustainability, and shared purpose.

We are deeply grateful to our event sponsors, whose support helps sustain Sustainable Princeton’s work throughout the year. Their investment in local climate action, environmental education, and community resilience makes programs and initiatives possible that directly benefit Princeton residents.

We are also grateful for the many partnerships that strengthen this work, including our collaborations with the municipality, Princeton Public Schools, and Princeton nonprofits.

The evening was a celebration not only of sustainability, but of the people who continue to invest in a healthier, more resilient, and more connected Princeton. We are especially grateful to everyone who contributed their time, creativity, and enthusiasm to make the event feel so warm and welcoming.

Community support makes Sustainable Princeton’s work possible year-round. Because of this support, we are able to offer programs like our Lending Library, the Sustainable Home Expo, and Green House Tour, which help residents learn about energy efficiency, electrification, solar, and sustainable landscaping; and Sustainable Minds, our speaker series exploring environmental issues and solutions. Support also helps us partner with STAR Neighborhoods on resident-led sustainability initiatives and expand projects like downspout planters to reduce stormwater runoff, tree planting, and native landscaping throughout Princeton, as well as the Monument Park revitalization project, which is transforming an underused space into a greener, more welcoming community gathering place with native plants.

We would also like to thank our honoree, Yamile Slebi, who previously served as a trustee and board president, for her years of leadership, generosity, and dedication to Sustainable Princeton and the Princeton community.

Nonprofits are only as strong as the communities that stand behind them, and we are deeply fortunate to live in a town where so many people show up with generosity, hope, and a willingness to work together.

Thank you for helping us celebrate local climate action, environmental stewardship, and community connection in such a memorable way.
