Summer Chamber Concerts At Richardson Auditorium

Princeton University Summer Chamber Concerts has announced its 59th Season, with four free concerts taking place this summer in Richardson Auditorium on the campus of Princeton University.

The first concert is Monday, June 22 at 7:30 p.m. The Galvin Cello Quartet, which had to cancel last summer due to weather, will present “Voice of the Piano,” including music of Mozart, Debussy, Beethoven, Mehmari, and Gershwin. On Friday, June 26 at 7:30 p.m., ensemble 132, a piano quartet, performs works by Mozart, Ravel, and Faure.

ArcoStrum is on stage Thursday, July 9 at 7:30 p.m. The violin and piano duo with Chinese/Western instrumentation performs selections by Piazzolla, Vivaldi, Li, Huang, Scarlatti, J. Williams, and Gnattali. They are followed on Sunday, July 19 at 4 p.m. by the Katarina String Quartet. On the program are pieces by Schubert, Webern, Gourzi, and Schumann.

“Our mission is to make the shared experience of great chamber music performances available to everyone,” said Melissa Bohl, artistic director.

The Summer Chamber Concerts was founded in 1968 by music journalist, pianist and cellist Barbara Sand. To this day, audience members recall sitting on the Graduate College lawn with blankets and picnic baskets for the concerts. Renovations at the Graduate College prompted a change of venue in 1991 to Richardson Auditorium.

Visit tickets.princeton.edu for tickets, which are available one week before each performance.
