“Seussical: The Musical” Coming to Kelsey Theatre

HORTON AND MORE: The cast members of “Seussical: The Musical” during a rehearsal prior to its upcoming performances June 5-14 at the Kelsey Theatre on Mercer County Community College’s West Windsor Campus.

Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat, and other Dr. Seuss characters are the stars of Theater to Go’s production of Seussical: The Musical at the Kelsey Theatre on the West Windsor Campus of Mercer County Community College, June 5-14.

Geared to all ages, the show has the Cat in the Hat telling the story of Horton — a kind, compassionate elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge when he protects the Whos while caring for an abandoned egg, left in his care by Mayzie La Bird.

Even as Horton navigates a series of obstacles, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community emerge triumphant.

Following performances on Broadway, off-Broadway, U.S. national tours, and London’s West End, Seussical is now one of the most performed shows in America, and is making its Kelsey Theatre debut.

Dates and showtimes are Fridays, June 5 and June 12, at 8 p.m., with matinee performances Saturdays, June 6 and June 13, and Sundays, June 7 and June 14, at 2 p.m. All performances are at the Kelsey Theatre on Mercer County Community College’s West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

Tickets are $26 for adults and $24 for seniors and students. Visit kelseytheatre.org.
