Congressional Candidate Sue Altman is Smart, Progressive, Ethical, Informed, and Fearless

To the Editor:

There are many smart and accomplished candidates running for Congress in Congressional District 12. Here is why I am strongly supporting Sue Altman.

I have known Sue for more than 15 years. I have worked with her to protect New Jersey public schools from the Christie administration’s assault and to eliminate New Jersey’s county line primary ballots.

Sue is very smart, progressive, ethical, informed, and fearless! She understands New Jersey and Washington and is well versed in a broad range of public policies. If elected, Sue will quickly become a star at the national level and will advance the district’s progressive values.

Sue has been endorsed by NJ Citizen Action, NJ Working Families Party, NJ College Democrats and the Princeton Community Democratic Organization. She is also one of five candidates in this race who received the seal of approval from Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman (Rep. Watson Coleman has not endorsed any single candidate).

Sue’s most recent work experience includes being state director for Senator Andy Kim and executive director of NJ Working Families Party. Before that, Sue was a very committed and effective Save Our Schools NJ volunteer organizer (Gov. Christie threw a microphone at her at a public forum over her questioning his actions against public schools, and she caught it and kept right on talking).

Sue has been a fearless and consistent thorn in the side of the South Jersey political machine and helped bring much of the machine’s bad behavior to light. In retribution, she was dragged out of a State Senate hearing on corporate tax breaks by the State Police.

Sue’s fearlessness and commitment to good government have led a shadowy Texas group that previously targeted Governor Sherrill to attack Sue in multiple mailers. With enemies like this, you know Sue is on the right side of the issues.

Sue is not taking corporate PAC money to fund her campaign and if we send her to Washington, she will work very hard to take money out of politics.

I wanted to share my experience as someone who has known Sue for many years. I trust and believe in her and am proud to call Sue my friend.
