To the Editor:
After many years, Princeton residents finally have a choice of candidates for municipal Council.
I am grateful to have the opportunity to enthusiastically support Leanna Jahnke, a relative newcomer, bringing fresh ideas and a sincere eagerness to serve our community.
In the few years she has lived in Princeton, Leanna has already shown a strong commitment to public service. As chair of the Municipality of Princeton Committee on Affordable Housing, Racial, Economic, Social Equity and Services; a member of the Advisory Council of Stay Strong NJ, a statewide campaign for affordable childcare; and an advocate for underserved families on the Princeton Board of Education, she has consistently used her voice and taken a leadership role in advancing a more equitable, inclusive, and just community.
Historically, Princeton Council has reflected the views of longtime residents, who naturally care deeply about preserving the well-being, safety, and quality of life we all value. But Princeton, like many other communities, is facing widening social, cultural, and economic divides. Ongoing gentrification now threatens the diversity that has long made our town so special.
We need Leanna Jahnke on Princeton Council to bring balance and a fresh perspective and to engage and represent the interests of those Princetonians who live among us, but that we rarely see in public meetings because they feel their voices do not matter.
If you want to know more about Leanna, please attend a Meet and Greet on Saturday, May 23, from 3-5 p.m. to get to know her in person. To register, send an email to cjuega@gmail.com.
