To the Editor:
Earlier this year, I announced that I would not seek a third term on Princeton Council. That decision came after careful reflection on the opportunity I have had to serve this community, which has been one of the great honors of my life. Throughout my time on Council, I have worked with a clear purpose: to make a meaningful and lasting difference for our residents by advocating for justice, equal rights, and access to basic needs. I have always believed that local government should improve quality of life for everyone, especially for those too often left behind.
As I look ahead, I am confident that Leanna Jahnke is the right person to help continue that work. Leanna is an educator, nonprofit leader, and community advocate who has demonstrated a deep commitment to equity, accessibility, and affordability. She understands that Princeton must remain a community where people from all backgrounds can live, work, and build their lives. That perspective, combined with her steady leadership and genuine commitment to public service, makes her exceptionally well suited to serve on Princeton Council.
Affordability remains one of the most pressing issues facing our town. Rising housing costs and everyday expenses continue to put pressure on families, seniors, young people, and working residents who want to remain part of Princeton. Leanna has consistently shown that she understands these challenges and is prepared to address them with seriousness and compassion. She has been a strong advocate for policies that help ensure families of all backgrounds can afford to stay in Princeton, and she recognizes that affordability is not an abstract policy goal — it is about preserving the fabric of our community.
Leanna has also shown strong leadership as chair of the Municipality of Princeton’s Committee on Affordable Housing, Racial, Economic, Social Equity and Services. That committee works to foster an environment of inclusion, empathy, and empowerment by advancing accessible human services, affordable housing, and civil rights. Her leadership in that role reflects the thoughtful, collaborative, and community-centered approach that Princeton deserves.
Equally important, Leanna listens. She values resident input, welcomes different perspectives, and understands that effective leadership requires both accountability and engagement. She brings people together, responds to concerns with care, and works to turn ideas into action. That is the kind of leadership that builds public trust and strengthens a community.
I am proud to support Leanna Jahnke for Princeton Council. She brings integrity, experience, compassion, and a clear commitment to serving the public good. I am confident she will help continue building a Princeton that is welcoming, fair, and full of opportunity.
Whether you vote by mail, vote early, or vote on Election Day, I encourage Princeton voters to support Leanna Jahnke for Princeton Council.
