On Sunday, May 3 from 2-4 p.m., Phillips Mill will hold a special Salon event on improvisation. This workshop will encourage participants to embrace the art of improvisation with host Sarah LeClair, who says everyone can improvise — and everyone should.
This event is ideal for beginners and those who have already dabbled in improvisation. Those taking part will play games and make up scenes on the spot, and connect the applications of comedy improv to everyday lives and goals while taking a risk in a supportive room.
LeClair is a Philadelphia-based improv performer, director, and instructor. She served as executive director of ComedySportz Philadelphia, and can be seen in their mainstage matches and in specialty shows such as Pitch/Black and Murder Manor: Golden Girls (Rose). She also works frequently with SideQuest Theater, performing (Best Medicine), directing (Objection! An Unscripted Courtroom Comedy) and instructing (Camp SideQuest). LeClair is also one half of the improvised horror comedy Terror Trove, and is currently developing two different improv shows based on classic works from Shakespeare and Dickens.
Admission is $10. Phillips’ Mill is at 2619 River Road in New Hope, Pa. Register online at phillipsmill.org.
