Writing in Support of Jon Durbin For Election to Princeton Council

To the Editor:

Principled. Honorable. Selfless. Decent.
These are the qualities I value in those who seek to lead. They foster the ability to listen carefully, respect differing perspectives, and pursue solutions that serve the broader community.

I have known Jon Durbin and his family for more than 15 years. Throughout that time, he has remained actively engaged in our community — through youth sports, civic involvement, and support for initiatives and leaders who reflect these principles. In every endeavor, he has demonstrated integrity, consistency, and a strong sense of responsibility.

I observed these qualities firsthand while we coached our sons together in Little League. Jon approached each interaction — with players, coaches, and league officials — with patience, respect, and thoughtfulness. In his understated manner, he consistently contributed to a more positive and inclusive environment for all involved.

When I first met Jon as a new Township resident, our initial conversation turned to politics, a subject I had long approached with skepticism. My prior experiences had led me to view political engagement as too often driven by personal ambition rather than public service. Over time, however, through continued interactions and a growing friendship, Jon shared his work and leadership with the Princeton Democratic Organization. He demonstrated that civic engagement can be conducted with integrity, respect, and a genuine commitment to the public good. His example encouraged me to become more involved in our community.

Jon Durbin will bring these same qualities to his service on the Council. He listens attentively, engages thoughtfully, and seeks practical, effective solutions to the challenges facing our community.
Get to know Jon, and I believe you will offer him your support for Council as strongly as I do.
