To the Editor:
Rising costs across the board are driving affordability concerns that are putting pressure on families, households, and municipalities alike. Princeton faces the same challenge confronting towns nationwide: the cost of essential services is rising far faster than revenue. Our elected Council members face near-unprecedented budgeting challenges in the next few years as they strive to maintain this town’s excellent services, infrastructure, and planning goals, while minimizing tax increases. But as revenues flatten, fixed costs such as health benefits and energy are skyrocketing.
At this fiscal inflection point, our town needs Jon Durbin to be elected to Princeton Council. Jon has the breadth of relevant professional experience and skills urgently required: strong budgeting and sound fiscal management, savvy resource stewardship, superb project management skills, and a demonstrated commitment to fairness and the inclusion of all voices.
We have known Jon for nearly 20 years, and we know well how effectively, thoughtfully, and energetically Jon deploys all his considerable professional skills and experience to every commitment, every civic endeavor, he accepts. Jon is also an excellent, clear, forthright communicator, and an earnestly democratic coalition builder. The combination of these skills and qualities makes Jon the best choice to represent us on Council.
Primary election day is Tuesday, June 2. To vote in the June 2 Democratic primary election, Democratic voters must be registered by May 12. You can check your voter registration status here: nj.gov/state/elections/voter-registration.shtml.
We look forward to casting our votes for Jon Durbin on primary election day this June 2, and we enthusiastically urge our fellow Princeton voters to do so as well.
