Former Princetonian Remembers Early Days of Town Topics Newspaper

To the Editor:

Congratulations, Town Topics, on reaching your 80th birthday [“Town Topics Marks 80 Years of Covering Princeton’s News,” March 18, page 1]. I was there when it all began. My mother, with Marge Cornwell, wife of Tom Cornwell who was either a Town Tpoics employee, or a part of the Princeton Herald printing staff, would fold the new publications with what looked like a plastic letter opener, to about the size of a #10 envelope.

The Herald was the printer of the Topics, and their printing facility may have been housed in what was part of 20 Nassau Street, with an entrance from Bank Street, where we lived. (It was a dead-end street then). I still enjoy reading the Topics when it arrives up here (Maine), but increasingly do not know the names of those who make the news.

Do keep up the good reporting; more of us depend on it than you may know!
