“An American Tapestry” From Voices Chorale NJ

SING OUT: Members of Voices Chorale NJ gather to prepare for a concert celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

Voices Chorale NJ will perform on Saturday, May 2, at 4 p.m. at Trinity Church, 33 Mercer Street. The theme is “An American Tapestry — Voices of Many,” which celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with a musical portrait of American voices and traditions.

The concert weaves together music from many corners of the American choral landscape with works by Randall Thompson, Aaron Copland, and Morten Lauridsen, alongside African spirituals, selections from the American Songbook, and music by contemporary women composers.

The featured work on the program is The Hope of Loving by contemporary composer Jake Runestad, to be performed with a string quartet.
