Memorial Concert Honors Late Pianist, Educator

Galina Prilutskaya

A memorial concert honoring the life and legacy of Galina Prilutskaya will take place on April 10 at 7:30 p.m. at Hillman Performance Hall, Marion Buckelew Cullen Center on the Westminster Campus, 101 Walnut Lane. The evening will celebrate her life through music, featuring performances by her colleagues at the Westminster Conservatory, and by her students. The event is free.

Prilutskaya was a pianist, teacher, and respected member of the Princeton music community. Born in Moscow, Russia, she discovered her passion for the piano at an early age. She went on to study with some of Russia’s most distinguished professors, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in piano pedagogy and performance.

During her career as a soloist, accompanist, and chamber musician, Prilutskaya performed extensively throughout Russia and later in the United States. After settling in the Princeton area, she became an integral part of the local music community, performing in concerts throughout Princeton and the surrounding region and collaborating with many fellow musicians.

Teaching was at the heart of her life’s work. In 1992, Prilutskaya joined the Westminster Conservatory of Music at Rider University, where she served on the faculty for more than 30 years. She also maintained a thriving private studio and directed the Conservatory’s Chamber Music Camp, creating a program that encouraged collaboration and joyful music-making.

For nearly three decades, Galina was an active member of the New Jersey Music Teachers Association and served as a judge for major events including the Piano Festival and Annual Recital Auditions. Admired for her musicianship, generosity, and kindness, she inspired generations of students and left a lasting legacy in the Princeton musical community.
