Noting that Council Candidate Durbin Has Always Been a Collaborative Leader

To the Editor:

Princeton is fortunate to have exceptional civic-minded residents willing to serve in the local government. Jon Durbin is a candidate for the Council of Princeton and we urge our fellow residents voting in the Democratic primary to nominate him on June 2.

We’ve known Jon since our now high-school age boys began playing in Princeton Little League. He personifies commitment. Many residents will be aware of Jon’s involvement in youth baseball at all levels, from Little League to Babe Ruth and American Legion as well his support for the Princeton High School program as a booster. What is likely less known is that Jon’s dedication to youth sports has extended long past the involvement of his now adult children. Jon remains an active member of the Princeton Little League Board of Trustees and continues to oversee Little League district tournaments, nearly a decade after his younger son finished playing in the program.

The wisdom he has accumulated over years of service to our community entitles him to help set the agenda for Princeton, but Jon has always been a collaborative leader. It is unsurprising that his platform includes a focus on increasing public engagement to address our most pressing issues as a town. From the tee-baller brand new to sports to the teenager on track for an athletic scholarship, Jon worked with all our families to ensure that we served their needs while building a shared experience.

With Jon Durbin as part of the next Council, Princeton can continue to serve as an example of how government can work. It starts with a commitment to the community, and an effort to bring everyone into the conversation.
