Endorsing David Cohen, Jon Durbin For Election to Princeton Council

To the Editor:

There is much said today about the lack of integrity in public officials, and yet here in Princeton we’re fortunate to have not one, but several selfless, intelligent, hardworking candidates for Council with strong moral compasses.

David Cohen and Jon Durbin are excellent examples, and I endorse both of them with great enthusiasm.

David’s career as an architect with a discipline for planning and his commonsense approaches serve the town well as it navigates the challenges of growth and change. David served as treasurer for both a nonprofit, Homesharing, and for the Democratic club, David brings financial acumen which is of great value on Council and for the town. David and his wife Liz have consistently cared for people who find themselves in need of help. When the town was short on crossing guards, David stepped up. David’s approach on Council is to listen, learn, and do what’s right and best for Princeton.

Like David, Jon Durbin has a long history of doing what’s right. Jon has spent his career as VP and editor at W.W. Norton working with authors dedicated to telling the important stories of our country’s history in nonfiction and college textbooks. Somehow, he also found time and energy over the last 15 years to serve in leadership roles in youth sports and Democratic politics, including as an executive committee member of Mercer County Democratic Committee and past president of PCDO. Jon and his wife Jean have repeatedly come to the aid of people in need. Their connections and relationships with state and national government officials and thought leaders help Princeton in ways that are hard to measure.

David and Jon are both great choices on Election Day.
