KOSSOW AT ACP: One of many drawings that will be on display in “Art Pop-Up: Recent Works by Joe Kossow,” a one-day exhibition at the Arts Council of Princeton on Saturday, March 28, from 12 to 5 p.m.
The Arts Council of Princeton (ACP) will present “Art Pop-Up: Recent Works by Joe Kossow,” a one-day exhibition showcasing the latest work by artist Joe Kossow, on Saturday, March 28, from 12 to 5 p.m.
This special pop-up exhibition invites audiences to explore and collect Kossow’s recent pieces, each rooted in historical photography and reimagined through his expressive, interpretive, techniques. Drawing from photos dated between 1860 and 1940, Kossow engages in a meticulous creative process that blends accuracy with imaginative brushwork, emphasizing dramatic light and shadow. His works transport viewers into narratives of old harbors, shipwrecks, community life, and intimate human moments; each scene re-envisioned with depth and a keen artistic sensibility. This limited-time sale will offer matted (but unframed) sketches at accessible price points, with a portion of proceeds benefiting ACP’s community programs.
Kossow earned his Master of Fine Arts degree from The American University in Washington, D.C., and in 1983 co-founded the Washington Studio School. A recipient of the prestigious Elizabeth Greenshields Prize, his paintings have been exhibited in galleries across the United States and in Europe, including Paris and Nancy, France. Kossow lives and works in Princeton.
This event is free and open to the public.
The Arts Council of Princeton is at 102 Witherspoon Street. For more information, visit artscouncilofprinceton.org or call (609) 924-8777.
