Writing in Support of Jon Durbin For Election to Princeton Council

To the Editor:

I am writing in strong support of Jon Durbin for Princeton Council.

Jon is running to ensure residents have more opportunities to be heard while Council addresses the issues shaping Princeton’s future. His thoughtful, energetic leadership is sincerely rooted in his community service, from decades with youth sports and recreation to deep engagement in our local Democratic organizations and party reform efforts. As a former member of Princeton Council, I know this is the leadership Princeton needs as we face new challenges.

Jon understands that effective local government starts with listening. As an experienced canvasser for Democratic candidates, he has demonstrated his dedication to increasing voter participation. And his pledge to knock on 1,000 doors before the June primary is emblematic of his commitment to listening and encouraging greater engagement in civic life.

Jon’s priorities reflect our community’s core values. He is focused on affordable living and quality of life for residents, including encouraging the development of affordable units for ownership, keeping municipal tax increases within the 2 percent range, bringing new ideas to parks and recreation, and maintaining vibrant local business districts. He is committed to sustainability through implementation of the Princeton Climate Action Plan and smart growth strategies. He also champions social and economic equity by strengthening support for social services and improving access to them.

Jon Durbin’s proven community leadership, collaborative spirit, and focus on engagement make him the right choice for Princeton Council. I urge residents to support his candidacy.
