To the Editor:
The intersection of Nassau Street, Washington Road, and Vandeventer Avenue is surely one of the busiest in town, both for vehicular and pedestrian traffic. More than a week after a heavy snowfall and the accumulation of a lot of ice, several of the crosswalks at that intersection have not been cleared [as of Sunday].
I’m in my mid-seventies and worried about falling, but I’ve seen many younger pedestrians as well as a man with a stroller struggle to negotiate the treacherous surfaces at those icy crosswalks. Who is responsible for clearing them to make them passable, and why has that not been done?
