This year’s Lambertville Historical Society (LHS) Plein Air PLUS art auction fundraiser will take place on March 7 at The Ballroom at Lambertville Station. An inspired evening of art, local history, and connection, the evening will begin with early bird bidding at 4:30 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and music at 5 p.m.
Plein Air Plus 2026 celebrates plein air and studio artwork that brings to life creative interpretations of historic Lambertville and the neighboring towns that line the Delaware River. This year’s silent auction will feature 65-plus curated works by local artists, highlighting the spirit and beauty of the area, as does the ballroom with its views of the river from floor-to-ceiling windows. Plein Air PLUS 2026 is being co-chaired by LHS trustees John Franzini and Lisa Shippy-Woods, who during the Halloween season helped create the “Memory Maker’s Trail of Magic,” which drew thousands of visitors to Lambertville to experience Dolores Dragan’s whimsical and eerie art.
“Plein Air PLUS 2026 celebrates what makes Lambertville special. It’s where art supports preservation, local beauty inspires creativity, and gathering energizes our community,” said Shippy-Woods. “The event’s move to Lambertville Station marks an exciting new chapter in this tradition.”
Proceeds from the auction will support the Lambertville Historical Society and the preservation and programming of the James Marshall House Museum as well as the artists. Tickets are $45 in advance and $55 at the door. There is a 10 percent discount for LHS members. Tickets include silent auction access, live music by the Lifters, hors d’oeuvres provided by Lambertville Station, and two drink tickets (cash bar available after tickets are used).
For the auction, minimum bids will be set for each piece of art. Bidding will end at 6:30 p.m. with winners announced at 7 p.m. Participants must be present to be the winning bidder. For more information and to purchase tickets, go to https://lambertvillehistoricalsociety.org/plein-air.
There are also sponsorship opportunities available to local businesses which will help fund the costs of the event. There are four levels of sponsorship, each offering significant visibility to the business. Those interested should contact Lisa Shippy-Woods at lisashippywoods@gmail.com.
