Young Trenton Musicians Present Free MLK Concert

MUSICAL ENRICHMENT: Members of the Trenton Children’s Chorus will be on the program honoring Martin Luther King Jr. at Turning Point Methodist Church in Trenton on January 19.

On Monday, January 19 at 3 p.m. at Turning Point Methodist Church, 15 South Broad Street in Trenton, the Trenton Children’s Chorus and Trenton Music Makers Orchestra will present a combined concert in celebration of the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr.

Trenton Children’s Chorus and Trenton Music Makers are the two after-school music performance programs of Capital Harmony Works, serving K-12 children from Trenton and surrounding towns. The concert will feature a variety of musical genres and the students will provide readings and reflections on the work of King. This is a family-friendly event for the whole community.

“Our annual MLK cele-bration concert is always an inspiring experience for both the participating children and the audience,”said Niki Spruill, Capital Harmony Works executive director. “It’s so exciting to have the children from both the chorus and orchestra come together in common purpose to celebrate Dr. King and his message.”

Capital Harmony Works is the home of Trenton Children’s Chorus, Trenton Music Makers and Music for the Very Young, an early childhood program serving the Trenton area since 2000. A free-will offering will be conducted in support of Capital Harmony Works and Turning Point Methodist Church.
