Rider University has announced its Pre-College Summer Program for high school students interested in learning a range of performing arts and game design.
From June 28-July 3, Solo Pianist Weeks offers serious young pianists experience in the artistic and practical aspects of solo performance. Students have daily private lessons with Westminster Choir College faculty Ena Bronstein Barton, James Goldsworthy, and Phyllis Alpert Lehrer; attend seminars; and take part in a final recital.
The Summer Vocal Institute is June 28-July 4, under the direction of Westminster Choir College’s teaching artist faculty. All students sing in the Institute Choir and receive training in conducting, choral performance and literature, interpretation of solo repertoire, technique, and voice science. The Game Design Academy runs July 5-11, introducing students to the skills and tools used to develop digital games in a professional creative environment.
Solo vocal artists can explore the many facets of developing their art from July 5-18, getting hands-on instruction and working daily with the voice faculty of Westminster Choir College. Additional opportunities for high school students are the Summer Organ Institute July 19-24, and the Music Theatre Institute July 26-August 8.
Adult summer programs, available for credit or auditing, include CoOPERAtive July 5-11, the Voice Pedagogy Institute July 20-24, the Choral Festival July 26-August 1, and the Conducting Intensive August 2-8.
