Comedy Acts Booked For McCarter Stages

BIG HAIR: Atsuko Okatsuka is among the comedy acts coming to McCarter Theatre this season. She brings “The Big Bowl Tour” on April 9.

Humor is the focus of several engagements coming to McCarter Theatre Center’s two stages this year. In the Berlind Theatre January 23-February 15, Kim’s Convenience by Ins Choi takes place in Mr. Kim’s corner variety store. Before it became a hit comedy series on Netflix, it was a successful stage play.

After the 7 p.m. show quickly sold out, a second, 9:30 p.m. show was added to Jordan Klepper’s Suffering Fools at the Matthews Theatre on January 30. Klepper is best known for his work with The Daily Show and multiple specials focused on the political world.

Nish Kumar: Angry Humour From a Really Nice Guy is April 2 in the Matthews Theatre. A regular at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Kumar is a frequent face on television and voice on radio. He hosts the BBC Radio 4 show “Spotlight Tonight” as well as “The News Quiz” and “Newsjack.”

Comedian and actress Atsuko Okatsuka stars in The Big Bowl Tour on April 9 in the Matthews Theatre. Her stand-up special “FATHER” recently premiered on Hulu and Disney Plus. McCarter is among many cities across North American on her tour.
