Covered Bridge Artisans Studio Tour Returns

“PEONY”: This oil painting by Constance Bassett will be featured at one of the stops on this year’s Covered Bridge Artisans Studio Tour November 28-30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

The Covered Bridge Artisans Studio Tour is back Thanksgiving Weekend, inviting art lovers to step inside the private studios of some of the region’s most accomplished artists and craftspeople while exploring the scenic backroads of Hunterdon County. The free, self-guided tour runs November 28-30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Now in its 31st year, the tour is a seasonal tradition for locals and visitors alike, showcasing a rich diversity of artistic talent — from painting and photography to sculpture, woodworking, ceramics, jewelry, and glass. Visitors can meet the artists, watch live demonstrations, and purchase original works directly from their creators— all while enjoying charming towns and countryside near the historic Green Sergeants Covered Bridge.

The newest studio stop on the tour this year will be Lambertville artist Kelly Sullivan. Known for her expressive oil paintings and collaborative public art projects, Sullivan blends bold brushwork with emotional insight, often focusing on human connection and storytelling through portraiture and figurative scenes.

In addition to nine open studios, this year’s event features 13 artists at the Sandy Ridge Church in Stockton, including Don Schoenleber and Susan Weschler. Schoenleber is a fine art photographer whose work captures the natural beauty and quiet mystery of the American landscape. Weschler, a ceramic artist, focuses on modern functional pieces for the home incorporating copper wire, glass, stains, and glazes.

“The Covered Bridge Artisans Tour is more than just an art show—it’s an invitation into the creative spaces of some of New Jersey’s most talented makers,” said Karen Caldwell, a participating artist and founding member. “Visitors experience the stories behind the work, the techniques, and the passion that goes into every piece.”
