The Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra (GPYO) has announced the appointment of three new members to its board of directors: Steve Clayton, Joy Wang, and Christine Giviskos.
“These three individuals bring an extraordinary breadth of experience in development, finance, the arts, and community engagement,” said David DeFreese, GPYO board chair. “Their commitment to GPYO’s mission will help us expand opportunities for young musicians and strengthen our role as a cultural resource in the region.”
Clayton brings expertise in fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and organizational storytelling that will support GPYO’s ongoing growth and sustainability.
“I’ve long admired GPYO’s commitment to giving young musicians not just technical training, but the experience of working together toward something greater than themselves,” he said. “I’m excited to contribute my skills in development and communications to help ensure GPYO’s growth and sustainability.”
Wang, a former senior investment analyst with 14 years of experience on Wall Street and current GPYO parent, said, “As a parent, I’ve seen firsthand how transformative GPYO is for students. It gives them confidence, discipline, and joy through music. I look forward to supporting the organization in reaching more families and building a strong financial future.”
Giviskos serves as curator of Prints, Drawings, and European Art at the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University. “I strongly believe in the power of the arts, especially in the lives of students,” she said. “I’m honored to join the board and to help foster a thriving cultural community where young people can develop as musicians and leaders.”
The addition of Clayton, Wang, and Giviskos expands GPYO’s Board at a time of growth, including the expansion of ensembles, community partnerships, and planned Master Classes with conductor Constantine Kitsopoulos.
The Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra (GPYO) provides training and performance opportunities for students seeking challenging musical ensemble experiences, while cultivating a lifelong appreciation of the arts.
