To the Editor:
Princeton is a special place to live, not just for its rich history, lively walkable town center, and ample green spaces, but also for the way we care for one another and for the environment we share. One of the easiest ways we can all play a part in keeping our town clean, safe, and welcoming is by using SeeClickFix, Princeton’s online reporting tool.
SeeClickFix is a simple, free service that empowers residents to quickly alert municipal staff about non-emergency issues — anything from parking meter problems to a blocked storm drain to public restroom complaints. According to Assistant Municipal Engineer Jim Purcell, the most common “requests” filed by residents on this service are potholes, missed trash collection, and animal issues. These may seem like small things, but they have an outsized impact on how our community looks, feels, and functions, and SeeClickFix allows the municipality to address them in a timely, efficient, and effective manner — but it only works in collaboration with us, Princeton’s residents!
Once you’ve signed in via smartphone app or at seeclickfix.com/Princeton_nj, reporting an issue is as easy as choosing an issue from the drawdown menu, snapping a photo, adding a short description, and dropping a pin on the map. Reports can be lodged anonymously as well.
Color coded markers allow you to see exactly where your request stands: green means your issue has been acknowledged, red means it’s open and in progress, and blue means it’s been closed. This transparency helps everyone know what’s being addressed and when.
Princeton’s charm and livability are the result of both careful planning and active community involvement. By using SeeClickFix, we strengthen the connection between residents and our municipal team, making it easier to get solutions in place quickly. It’s not just about fixing problems — it’s about working together to keep Princeton the kind of place where we all want to live, work, and visit.
So next time you notice something that needs attention, don’t wait. Pull out your phone, open SeeClickFix, and let the municipality know. It’s a small action that can make a real difference — because when it comes to caring for our community, every set of eyes matters.
Let’s keep Princeton thriving — together.
