To the Editor:
It is sad to see that The Princeton Singers concluded operations on August 31, as they have made a vital contribution to our community.
One additional note (pun intended) is that the group was formed 42 years ago by John Bertalot, then choirmaster and organist at Trinity Church. As noted at chorusamerica.org, “the Singers earned a reputation for ‘excellent tuning, impeccable control, and subtly-nuanced phrasing.’” Author of three books on choral direction and now 94, John has retired to Blackburn, U.K., where he maintains a remarkable website dedicated to English choral music (bertalot.org).
