Final Events of Season From PU Concerts
TALENTED SIBLINGS: Isata and Sheku Kanneh-Mason bring their musical talents to Richardson Auditorium on April 27. The appearance is part of Princeton University Concerts’ spring season.
Performances coming up in the next few weeks from Princeton University Concerts (PUC) feature the Ébène, Dover, and Tetzlaff String Quartets, as well as the cello/piano duo Isata & Sheku Kanneh-Mason, who will also visit students in Trenton’s public schools as part of PUC’s Neighborhood Music Project.
An announcement of PUC’s 2022-23 season will take place in a pre-concert event at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, incorporating a special performance by the students involved in Trenton Arts at Princeton.
Many of the programs, conceived during the pandemic, reflect PUC’s commitment to positioning music within the context of current events and concerns, including the performance of Shostakovich’s string quartet written “in memory of victims of fascism and war;” and works selected in honor of gratitude and remembrance in the wake of the pandemic. The final two performances of the season will also highlight a unique kind of musicmaking, presenting two sets of siblings — violinist Christian and cellist Tanja Tetzlaff of the Tetzlaff Quartet, and young stars pianist Isata (age 25) and cellist Sheku (age 23) Kanneh-Mason.
The Ebene String Quartet appears March 31, followed by the Dover String Quartet on April 7, the Tetzlaff String Quartet on April 21, and the Kanneh-Masons on April 27. All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25-$50 ($10 Students). Visit puc.princeton.edu or call (609) 258-2800.
