US Marines on 100-Mile “Long Walk” Due to Arrive in Kingston on Friday, September 4
On September 1, 2015, three marines and three service dogs began a 100-mile journey from the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia to the Freedom Tower in New York City. Dubbed “The Long Walk,” Sergeant Devon Richio, Sergeant Steven Walls, Sergeant Andrew Einstein, and their three working dogs, will arrive at the Kingston Fire Company in Kingston, NJ on Friday, September 4 at approximately 5 p.m. The Kingston Fire Company will welcome the hard working Marines with open arms and invites the Princeton and Kingston communities to do the same.
After their heroic arrival, the travelling marines and service dogs will dine at Eno Terra on behalf of the Momo brothers, owners of the Terra Momo Restaurant Group.
“The Long Walk” is being completed in honor of the memories of Corporal John Thornton of Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion 7th Marines who was killed in action on February 25, 2005 in Iraq and Staff Sergeant Christopher Diaz, a Military Working Dog Handler, who was killed in action on September 28, 2011 in Afghanistan.
All proceeds raised during “The Long Walk” go towards an art scholarship fund in Corporal Thorton’s name and to “The Rocky Mountain Dawgz Project” in memory of Staff Sergeant Diaz.
