Artists’ Gallery will present “In-Between,” an exhibit of landscape paintings by Joe Kazimierczyk and Michael Schweigart, July 8 through August 1. All are invited to view the exhibit at Artists’ Gallery in Lambertville, and attend the opening reception on Saturday, July 10, from 5 to 8 p.m.
According to the artists, we are always in a state of “in-between.” You are between places when traveling or exploring. You have the physical space between the viewer and the artwork which effects how the artwork is perceived. There’s the implied space that you experience beyond the flat surface of a drawing or painting. Kazimierczyk and Schweigart invite viewers to experience many in-between places in this exhibition.
Kazimierczyk ‘s landscape paintings are a natural extension of his hiking and cycling trips as he explores and searches out new places for inspiration. His artwork is a distillation of his experiences of a place, and the resulting paintings are somewhere between reality, memory, and imagination.
Schweigart is often delighted by what he experiences along the way. So, it begins for him with an idea for a painting and from the first sketch to a finished painting there are many unforeseen circumstances that influence the outcome, usually a very different and improved work emerges from the original concept. In any event the results seen in his work connect with a time and a place in between.
Artists’ Gallery is located at 18 Bridge Street, in the heart of Lambertville. Hours are Thursday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, visit LambertvilleArts.com.
