TerraCycle to Host 11th Annual Jersey Fresh Jam

Recycling company TerraCycle is hosting the 11th annual Jersey Fresh Jam, New Jersey’s biggest showcase of hip hop art and culture on Saturday, August 6. In partnership with Trenton based graffiti artists, Leon Rainbow and Vicious Styles Crew, TerraCycle is providing their headquarters as a canvas for talent around the country to express their artistic freedom.

The Jersey Fresh Jam will be open to the public free of charge. For the first time, this year’s Jersey Fresh Jam will be featuring all four performing elements of hip hop: MCing, DJing, graffiti, and breakdancing. Visitors can watch 50 invited graffiti artists express their unique styles live on over 40,000 square feet of TerraCycle headquarter walls. As the largest Jersey Fresh Jam to date, the festival will feature two stages: one for over a dozen guest bands and music artists performing throughout the afternoon, and a second featuring DJs and break dancers. Local food vendors will be present as well.

Visitors will also be able to attend the “Be Music” kickoff party and art show the night before on Friday, August 5, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will be hosted at the Galería Casa Cultura in Trenton by San Diego based muralist, speaker and painter, Isaias Crow, who will also be present at the Jersey Fresh Jam.

Since 2005, the Jersey Fresh Jam has grown from a local gathering of just a dozen graffiti artists, into a lively, block-wide festival, celebrating the progression of urban art and hip hop culture. Each year, Jersey Fresh Jam attracts hundreds of visitors allowing the festival to expand with more artists and performances. The magnitude of Jersey Fresh Jam not only provides a guaranteed place for graffiti artists to display their work, but also transforms the TerraCycle office into an urban art garden with intricate murals and creative sculptures.

The event is held at TerraCycle, located at 121 New York Avenue in Trenton. The rain date is Sunday, August 7.
