A Community Bulletin

The Township Police Department, will be hosting an Operation Take Back New Jersey local collection site at 1 Valley Road between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 25. Local residents are encouraged to properly dispose of their unused, unwanted, and expired medicine. For more information see www.operationtakebacknj.com.

As part of its centennial celebration, The Princeton Public Library will host a 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, October 10 at 9 a.m. Beginning at the Library entrance, the course will go down John Street, around the Community Park North loop twice, and then head back up the John Street hill to finish up at Hinds Plaza. Registration for this event is $10, cash or check. T-shirts will be given to all those who enter, and refreshments will be available at the end of the race. There will be first and second place prizes, as well as prizes for those who finish first in their age group. Sign up forms are available online at the Library website, and in the Library lobby. The forms can be mailed or dropped off at the Library’s Welcome Desk.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that everyone ages six months of age and older get flu shots early this year has been endorsed by the Physicians at Children’s Hospital of New Jersey. “Last flu season (2009-2010) saw the emergence of the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus (previously called ‘novel H1N1’ or ‘swine flu’),” said a press release. “While not certain, the CDC reports that it is likely that 2009 H1N1 viruses will continue to spread along with seasonal viruses in the U.S. during the 2010-2011 flu season. The 2010-2011 flu vaccine will protect against three different flu viruses: an H3N2 virus, an influenza B virus, and the H1N1 virus that caused so much illness last season.” For more information visit www.princetontwp.org/Influenza_Information.html.
