A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues
Question of the Week: "What are your thoughts on the speech Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice made at the Woodrow Wilson School?"
"I was captivated by her extensive historical backing and while not all Americans agree with the current American foreign policy, I think it is important to just consider her perspective and the Administration's because it is important to see what their thinking is. I gained a better insight as far as the ideologies and the hopeful aspirations the Administration has."
Richard Lopez, Princeton University student
"The secretary's comments were terrific. I found her answers to the questions brilliant and they showed her true mastery of foreign policy worldwide. It was a terrific performance."
Bill Whipple, Class of '60, Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University
"I was impressed with how she really connected the dots of history in terms of linking together the different administrations, both Democrat and Republican, both the pre-WWII times and the post-WWII times and try to make the connections for today. I think we will have to wait and see in terms of history whether or not she is right and whether this really is an historic transformation the way she says and if we need a clearer strategy for the East one day and sooner rather than later."
Fatema Gunja, graduate student, Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University
"I thought she was very articulate and impressive on a personal level. I don't agree with her positions or that of the Administration and I am not persuaded by the things she had to say but I think that she is an impressive person."
Dean Hilary Herbold, Princeton University
"Throughout the whole talk I kept asking myself, ‘What world does she live in?' In so many cases her view of the world is not what I see based on the intelligence that I get and the newspapers that I read and when she did have observations that seemed to be on mark her conclusions were way off. I hardly know where to begin."
Rush Holt, U.S.Congressman, D-12
