Mighty Forces of Culture and Society Do Battle in "Radio Golf," August Wilson's Last Play, at McCarter on Its Way to Broadway

Donald Gilpin

Tiger Woods may have coasted to victory again last weekend, as he sets his sights on next month's Masters Tournament in Augusta, but he doesn't fare so well on stage in McCarter Theatre's dynamic production of August Wilson's Radio Golf.

Posters of Tiger Woods and Martin Luther King adorn the back wall of the Bedford Hills Redevelopment Office and set the parameters of the battlefield in Mr. Wilson's powerful political, moral, and human drama. Radio Golf, completed just before Mr. Wilson's death in October 2005, is the story of a struggle for the soul of the African-American community, a clash of values between the commercial and the moral, between success in contemporary society and the old human values of tradition, culture, family, and humanity.

New Jersey Symphony Orchestra Presents Dazzling Piano Soloist, Norwegian Music

Nancy Plum

New Jersey Symphony Orchestra brought a touch of Norway to Richardson Auditorium on Friday night as the orchestra closed its 2006-07 Princeton concert series. Guest conductor Arild Remmereit, who has conducted a number of Scandinavia's leading orchestras, led the ensemble in a program of music either by Norwegian composers or connected to the country. The concert was enhanced by a fiery and intense concerto performance by Israeli pianist Orli Shaham.
