Town Talk

A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues

Question of the Week:

“What kinds of books do you look for at used book sales and what would be an exciting find?” (Asked of volunteers as they set up the Bryn Mawr-Wellesley Book Sale)

“Some people think a great find is a book that they read as a kid. There are so many wonderful children’s books — a treasure trove for grandparents. I’ve been working on the sale for more than 10 years, and am just taken by what a wonderful community event it is, bringing so many people together — volunteers and book lovers.”

Marietta Taylor, Princeton

“I love to read histories and biographies. A great find for me would be something that I did not know existed. Also, filling out collections of authors that I enjoy like, for example, Le Carré and Burke. It is an amazingly wonderful book sale.”

Bruce Billos, Moorestown

“I found a first edition, third printing, of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Far Side of Paradise. This will bring in a lot of money to fund scholarships.”

Chip Gerry, Princeton

“Lots of great finds in the Art Section (we have more than six tables) such as rare and unusual artists, and a book on Prague in 1600 and the court of Rudolph II.”

Maryanne Grey, Princeton

“The sale has been the best experience that I have had since coming to Princeton. My great find is The Personification of Flowers, a two volume set.”

Fran Reichl, Princeton and Pittsburgh
