Town Talk

A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues

Question of the Week:

"Why did you come to participate at the Princeton Future event Saturday at the Princeton Public Library?"

"Because I'm concerned about the fabric of the community, the look of our town, and I'm worried about high-rise developments. Right now, there is a 14-unit development proposal on Greenview Avenue, and I think there needs to be a 'bigger picture' approach to what is being designed and built, and whether it's in keeping with the neighborhood. Also, I would like to see some kind of neighborhood conservation district for the greater part of the Borough so that it maintains the wonderful look and feel that we have now."

Tara de la Garza, Humbert Street

"I have multiple interests in terms of the future of the town and how we can balance the character of the village with the economic realities of today's world."

Michael Landau, Patton Avenue

"I live in the John-Witherspoon neighborhood and I came here because I wanted to find out what was going on in the town in general. I wanted to learn about the developments being planned and the town's direction in terms of public transportation and the possibility of integrating a public transportation shuttle with the Princeton University shuttle."

Gail Johnson, Leigh Avenue

"I have lived here with my wife for 45 years. This meeting is a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together in order to address a number of common problems that have been identified for discussion this morning. My particular expertise relates to transportation policy, as I have been a member and former chair of the Princeton Township Sidewalk and Bikeway Advisory Committee. My hope is that we will reexamine our zoning policies as they affect land use that indirectly affects how we get around and how we design our community. I think that if we can create opportunities for mixed-use zoning we will be able to have a more cohesive community and possibly avoid the traffic congestion that we now face."

Mike Suber, Terhune Road
