Representatives of the Princeton Regional Schools (PRS), Stephanie Kennedy, business administrator and Gary Weisman, director of Plant Operations, presented the PRS "Long Range Facilities Plan 2005-2010" to the Regional Planning Board of Princeton on Thursday. Most of the plan's 20 projects are renovations to current facilities, including the rehabilitation of the Valley Road building, estimated at $7.5 million and scheduled for completion in 2009. The estimated cost of all the planned projects is $31.6 million. The district is currently in the process of selecting a firm to conduct a study of low-cost improvements and revenue-generating possibilities for the Valley Road building, which currently houses the administrative offices of Princeton Regional Schools.
Princeton High School seniors Billie Jean Pinheiro, Avery Hookey, and Wan Cha, as well as 13 students from Ewing High School and Trenton Central High School have completed studies at Princeton University as part of the Princeton University Preparatory Program (PUPP). The three students are part of the third graduating class of PUPP, a three-year program established in 2000 by Princeton University Professor Miguel Centeno and John Webb, who directs the University's Program in Teacher Preparation. The program comprises six weeks of intense academic courses over three summers to complete 18 courses as well as weekly writing enrichment classes. Student participation is based upon standardized Grade Eight Proficiency Assessment scores, academic status during their freshman year of high school, and family income. Billie Jean plans to attend Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., Avery plans to attend Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., and Wan will go to the University of Rochester in New York this fall.
