Town Talk

A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues

Question of the Week:

“What do you think about Sonia Sotomayor’s nomination to the Supreme Court?”

“She is more than a woman or a Latina, she is a human being with flaws like the rest of us. That should not disqualify her from being nominated. One has to take into account the whole person and what she brings to the Supreme Court.”

Tasha O’Neill, Princeton

“I think it’s great to have a woman and having the first Hispanic as well to be appointed to the Supreme Court. She had juvenile diabetes and today I am collecting for juvenile diabetes.”

Arielle Niecestro, Princeton

“Given her record and achievements, she is what she represents. When you pick someone you really get to know someone. People have to remember that not everybody comes completely fitting every mold. There are things that will come up here and there. But, people need to step back and put it all in proper perspective. She is a very good choice.”

Susie Huang, Greenwich, Conn. attended Princeton University with Sonya Sotomayor (Class of 1976), although she did not know her in school. Also in the photo is her daughter Shelly.

Mitra (left): “I’m very pleased that he nominated a woman and another member of a minority to the Supreme Court. I think it’s fantastic.” Raquiba (right): “I’m an attorney and have to agree — two thumbs up!”

Mitra Keykhah, N.Y. and Raquiba Huq, West Windsor (both Princeton University, Class of 2003)

“It was a brilliant choice! Absolutely delighted!”

Bob Mueller, Princeton

“A very astute appointment from a political standpoint. And, as far as her qualifications for the position, I think she is eminently qualified. I think she’ll bring a fresh perspective and one that will broaden the general perspective. It think it’s a great appointment.”

Steve Grauer, Princeton
