Rising Princeton High School senior Susan Liao was selected from more than 300 national applicants to serve as an Associate Board Member for the State Farm Youth Advisory Board, which will oversee a $5 million-a-year State Farm funded initiative that will award grants to student-led service-learning projects. Princeton resident Kathy Herring is among the six new members of Young Audiences New Jersey (YANJ) Board of Trustees. The organization, which brought curriculum-based arts education programs to 479,000 children in all 21 New Jersey counties last year, relies on its 26 trustees for governance, advocacy, financial support, and networking.
Carolyn Lipka, daughter of Princeton-based physician Andrew Lipka, received a gold medal and a $5,000 scholarship from the History Channel as the national champion in the National History Day Championships, held at the University of Maryland. Carolyn, a junior at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North, has been the New Jersey State Champion four times in the past five years, and was the winner of a silver medal at last years National Championship.
