A
forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local
and national issues Question
of the Week: "What
does the 4th of July holiday mean to you?"

"Celebrate
our nation as we know it." Rip Diringer,
Princeton Community Village

"Two
things: I think of it historically what happened in 1776
on this date, and during the eight/nine years of the American
revolution; and I think of it in the modern sense the
men and women who are out there protecting our freedoms so
that we may enjoy a day like this, today." John
Mills, Battlefield Curator, Mercer Road

"Parties
and celebrations and reading the Declaration of Independence." Ariel,12,
Princeton Junction
"Teaching
my sons, ages 3 and 5, about the Revolutionary War and freedom." Melissa
Chamberlain, Derien Avenue

"For
me, I have always grown up doing the re-enacting and finding out
about the founding of our country, and how lucky we are to
have the freedoms that we do. So every Fourth of July we are
here doing this event to show people about the Declaration
of Independence we have a reading of that and to show
people how fortunate we are." Jenny
Mills, Mercer Road
