Nursery School Thanks Bank Partner for Volunteers and Financial Support

To the Editor:

This year, as we celebrate 80 years of service to the Princeton community, Princeton Nursery School would like to recognize a very special corporate partner who has provided continued support to our program.

The folks at PNC Bank, our longtime friend and corporate partner, have never been afraid to roll up their sleeves in support of our kids.

In 2004, PNC Bank honored Princeton Nursery School by selecting it as the launch site for the New Jersey Grow Up Great program. The Grow Up Great literacy program has also donated books to help build our students’ home libraries. Field trips that would otherwise be eliminated as a result of budget cuts in the current economy are still an important part of the program through the generosity of PNC Bank. This year the children visited the Adventure Aquarium on the Camden Waterfront thanks to the bank.

In addition to underwriting these and other important programs, scores of bank volunteers have chosen Princeton Nursery School as the community organization with whom they choose to spend their time and share their resources. This army of men and women has done everything from painting and fixing up our old building to reading stories to the children and joining the kids in arts and crafts activities. Some have even volunteered as carpenters and fixed “Ms. Thelma’s” kitchen cabinets.

To PNC Bank we extend our heartfelt appreciation. We look forward to our continued partnership in helping the children of Princeton Nursery School “Grow Up Great.”

A letter from Merv Holland and Suzanne Nash in the June 24 issue of Town Topics stated, incorrectly, that Princeton University owns Princeton Community Village. PCV is owned and managed by Princeton Community Village Associates LP, an affiliate of Princeton Community Housing, whose mission is to provide, manage, and advocate for affordable housing.
