Town Talk

A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues

Question of the Week:

“What was your most memorable New Year’s Eve celebration?”

“Disney World’s celebration with fireworks at Epcot Park. People from all the different countries come out and celebrate the New Year.”

Eli Zavialov, West Windsor

“My grandmother’s house, she would let us bang on pots and pans. If you stopped banging, you could hear the other neighbor’s banging on pots and pans. We always had to eat at least one spoonful of black eyed peas for good luck, a family tradition.”

Courtney Fatemi, Greenbrook, who works at the Princeton Historical Society

“A New Years party at our friend’s house. A friend from Princeton High School has been having this really nice party every year. It’s become a smaller group as we have graduated from PHS but it’s still great coming together with lots of friends.”

Alice Gallagher and William Sword, Princeton

“My most memorable New Year’s Eve party was two years ago, at a friend’s house. We actually went to an open mic and met some friends. Two of the people are my best friends today and we’re going to be together tonight to watch the ball drop at Times Square and celebrate the New Year.”

Solomon Mason, Princeton

Doug: “We were both Peace Corps volunteers in Kenya. We watched the soup cook (we didn’t have TV) and went to bed by 9 p.m. It wasn’t a big deal.” Melissa: “I went to watch the ball drop at Times Square, it was a big deal, it was amazing! It was freezing cold, and I won’t do it again.”

Doug Larkin and Melissa Naud, West Windsor
