ON THE FLY: Princeton University women's basketball captain Casey Lockwood lofts a pass in Princeton's 69-51 victory over Brown last Saturday. Lockwood contributed six points, a career-high 11 rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots, and two steals in the win. The win improved Princeton to 10-9 overall and 4-1 in Ivy League play, tying it with Harvard for first in the league standings. In upcoming action, the Tigers play at Harvard on February 9 and at Dartmouth a night later.

Tiger Women's Hoops In Thick of Ivy Race; Cowher Hits 1,000 as PU Girds For Harvard

It was a weekend in which one player on the Princeton University women's basketball team passed a milestone and the squad collectively took a step towards making some history down the road.

On Saturday night, Princeton junior forward Meagan Cowher passed the 1,000-point mark in her career as the Tigers topped Cornell 69-51 before a throng of 1,904 on hand at Jadwin Gym for the annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration.

Cowher scored a game-high 23 points to end the night with 1,014 points in her stellar career.

MacKenzie Earns Most Valuable Honors As PHS Boys' Swimmers 4th in Counties

It was around 3:45 last Saturday afternoon and Sean MacKenzie thought his work at the Mercer County Swimming Championships was done.

The Princeton High sophomore star had won the 200-meter individual medley, the 500 freestyle, and had produced a blazing anchor leg to help PHS to a win and the meet record in the 400 free relay.

As MacKenzie packed up and got ready to head home from the Lawrence High pool, he learned he had one more task on the day-to accept the meet's Most Valuable Swimmer award.

Curtis Makes it a Senior Night to Savor as PHS Girls' Hoops Tops Notre Dame

Kelly Curtis was pumped up to be facing Notre Dame last Thursday as the Princeton High girls' basketball team celebrated Senior Night.

"Notre Dame has always been a powerhouse in every sport," said senior guard Curtis, noting the the PHS girls' hoops team had suffered several one-sided losses to the Irish during her career. "I definitely had some frustration against them that I wanted to get out tonight."

Senior Star Ryan Raising his Game As PHS Boys' Hockey Hits Stride

The high school ice hockey season can be a grind and Princeton High senior star John Ryan hasn't been immune to the fatigue.

"I've been kind of tired lately," said Ryan. "I've been putting things into perspective as to how I want to play."

The high-scoring forward has utilized that perspective to produce one of the hottest streaks of his stellar career.

Stuart Swimmer Iacouzze Flies Solo; Makes Big Splash At County Meet

Brittany Iacouzze had no problem flying solo last Saturday at the Mercer County Swimming Championship finals.

While the swimmers from the other schools had the boisterous support of their teammates as they competed in the din at the Lawrence High pool, Iacouzze was just one of two representatives on hand for the Stuart Country Day School.

The poised senior distance specialist, though, made plenty of noise with her performance in the water as she battled her competitors and their supporters.
