Town Talk

A forum for Princeton residents to express opinions about local and national issues

Question of the Week:

“Are you looking forward to school starting soon? (Asked at the Princeton Public Library)”

Phoebe: “Yes and no, because the beginning of school is fun but it’s sad to see summer go.”

Teena: “Yes, I’m excited because it’s my senior year and I’m excited to start looking at colleges and applying.”

— Phoebe Whiteside, Princeton (left) and Teena Molinaro, Pennington

Lula: “I’m excited for Skylar to start sixth grade. We’ve been preparing all summer by taking out books from the library to get ahead.”

Skylar: “No, because school is really stressful and busy. Yes, because I like “con-day,” a whole day that comes around once a school year. It’s a social day. You get to play games, talk and have fun all day.”

— Lula Cole, Franklin Park, with granddaughter Skylar Davis, New York

Hope: “I’m looking forward to school starting and seeing my friends but not my classes. I missed all my friends during the summer.”

Matt: “I’m looking forward to seeing my friends. But I’m going into my junior year and I’m not looking forward to taking all the AP classes that are offered and that I’ve been dreading my whole high school career.”

— Hope MacKenzie, Ewing, and Matt Olentine, Princeton

Henry: “Yes and no. I like to see my friends and keep playing but no to having to do work in school.”

Scott: “Yes, I’m looking forward to school starting so my son can continue the learning process.”

— Scott Smith with son Henry, Princeton

Helen: “I’m excited to see my friends and hopefully have Ms. Reilly for a teacher and I’m looking forward to reading more.”

Christopher: “I’m looking forward to school starting. Helen has always been excited to learn and I have no doubt that it will be the same this year.”

— Christopher Heuer with daughter Helen, Princeton

Mi: “At my camp this summer the lifeguard who taught me swimming lessons is going to teach third grade and I am really hoping to have her as my teacher.”

Joting: “Yes and no. My children are growing up and it is a new year starting. I really enjoyed the summer and will miss having my children home, we have done so much this summer together.”

— Joting Von-Kaenel with daughter Mi, Franklin
