Princeton Animal Control Officer Mark Johnson was issued two summonses on July 14 for the shooting of two beavers in Pettoranello Gardens in Community Park North in May without a valid permit. Filed with the Princeton Township Municipal Court, both summonses were issued by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. It was reported that each count carries a fine of $100 to $200 upon conviction. No additional information was available at press time.

Princeton YMCA campers are helping to reduce single use plastic bag use in Princeton this week, as part of “Hometown Hero Week.” Working with Sustainable Princeton’s BYOBag campaign, Hoagie Haven, and JaZams, campers are providing 100 decorated, reusable cloth bags to the BYOBag campaign, which encourages the Princeton community to bring their own shopping bags and help save 1 million single use plastic bags from landfills by June, 2012.
