Representative Rush Holt (D-12) will host a telephone town hall meeting with Central New Jersey veterans on Wednesday, August 4 at 7 p.m. The one-hour meeting will give participants an opportunity to ask questions and share their views on the challenges facing them. Officials from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs will be on hand to help answer questions.

To opt-in to receive a call to the Monday or Wednesday telephone town hall, please call 1-87-RUSH-HOLT.

After being invited by Premier Food Waste/Central Jersey Waste & Recycling to implement curbside food waste recycling, the Township of Princeton is looking for residents who want to take part in a pilot food waste curbside removal program, the first of its kind in the state. Nearly 30 percent of what is thrown away in garbage is organic, and the average single family household throws away about 45 pounds of food scraps and food-soiled paper every month. This program would save money on garbage hauling, keep food out of the landfill, and create valuable soil and compost. Residents will be supplied with two containers, one for organic waste and one for household garbage, and collection will take place weekly. Participants will use Central Jersey Waste/Premier for their garbage collection during the Pilot Program period, which is scheduled to begin in October. To learn more, contact Township Recycling Coordinator Janet Pellichero at jpellichero@princeton-township.nj.us or call (609) 688-2566.
